• I will not give access to the library to anyone.
• I will be held economically liable for any acts of vandalism and may be reported to the police.
• I stay at my own risk. I will not leave personal belongings unattended.
• I understand that the breach of these guidelines may result in a ban from the self-service library.

Our library

The library belongs to us all, please take good care of it! Conduct yourself in an orderly manner. For more information, we refer you to our rules of conduct and loan terms and conditions.

What is the self-service library?

This is a library you can use outside of the staffed opening hours. Anyone over the age of 15 can apply. Children are allowed under the supervision of adults. Parents, legal guardians and institutions are responsible for those under their supervision. In addition to the Main Library, the libraries at Vågsbygd and Tangvall are self-service libraries.

Access and stay

You gain access upon scanning your library card at a bar code reader by the entrance and entering your pin code. At the same time, a picture of you is being taken. The premises are video monitored to ensure everyone's safety. When the library closes at 22:00 this will be announced over the loudspeakers, and the burglar alarm will be activated.

In every library you will find a map with escape routes drawn in, and fire exits will be clearly marked. Familiarize yourself with this before staying. Remember to bring your mobile phone with you during your stay. In the event of a fire alarm, elevators will go to the ground floor and open, and remain in this state.

Available services

You can borrow and return items, pick up reservations, read newspapers and periodicals, and use reading rooms, group rooms, use our computers and Wi-Fi access, print documents – or simply just stay here. The main library also has a copy machine available, payable by debit card. Please note that some services, for instance books from our storage in the basement, are only available during staffed opening hours.

Borrowing and returning

You can borrow and return items at our loan machines. Please follow the instructions on the screen.

Reserved items

When your reservation is available, you will get a message containing a reference number. You can use this number to locate your item on the reserved items shelf and borrow it on the loan machine.

The library staff is present every day from 10:00 AM, but on Sundays from 12:00 AM and only from 1 September through 30 april.

Doors open 8:00 AM on weekdays.
